Recently
referred to as one of the Jam Scene's "Best Kept Secrets" by Relix magazine,
Juggling Suns have been abducting fans from New Jersey to Japan since 1997.
Their roots lie in the diverse musical styles of old school psychedelia,
jazz, bluegrass, funk, trance, dance and pure rock n roll, and those roots
have fueled their legendary on-stage improvisation. The Suns have played
to packed audiences in Japan and all over the United States.
Jimkata
is a concept that has been brewing for much longer than it's first year of
road exposure throughout 2007. Influenced by the 90's childhoods of its'
members, the music calls upon the likes of Rage Against the Machine, The
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ween, Dr. Dre, and the Chemical Brothers. Now they
are on an endless pursuit to find a sound that is both new and timeless.
Although inspired by the world of improvisational music, Jimkata focuses
on song structure, textures, layers, and vibrant lyrics. By the end of a
Jimkata show you will leave feeling explosive, powerful and alive.
Coviello
and his mandolin-playing songwriting partner JP Biondo formed the nucleus
of Cabinet before the rest of the band came along. JP's cousin, Pat Biondo,
recently moved to the area from Cleveland and was assimilated into the group
after agreeing to learn a new skill. "I played guitar for years and
when I wanted to join the band, they already had a guitar. Someone had a
banjo lying around, so I started to learn how to play the banjo." Todd
Kopec adds another bluegrassy element dynamic with his fiddle while Dylan
Skursky's nimble fingers on the upright bass supplements the rest of the
ensemble well. Oh, and did I mention that they all sing? Three and four-part
harmonies are a regular part of the show.
Hexbelt
truly is a unique band in an age of increasingly generic modern music. What
the critics are saying... "Solid groovin' in the pocket rock with an experimental
edge that moves through the spectrum of blues, funk, ska and rip-snortin
raging rock-n-roll with a prevalent hippie anarchist punk attitude running
throughout." - 3D monthly music review "...An original rock and roll band,
they are difficult to pigeonhole...a weird hybrid of rock, reggae and blues,
all melded into languid tunes that people . " - Lancaster Intelligencer Journal
BoSu
is an eye-opening, soul-shaking, mind bending musical eruption. This unique
group doesn't just perform a song, they paint it, using sound as their palette
and the audience as their canvas, so the listener sees, feels, and hears
the music. Delving into a gritty funkadelic persian underworld, to find it
leads into a calypso soul carnival is all part of this phenomenal sonic exploration.
With strong seasoned voices, magnificent harmonies, and a mastery of the
age-old language of the drum creating a kaleidoscope of rhythms, this is
a sound that transcends cultural bounds, calling to that higher state of
mind. Come experience the group that has been dubbed the "true voice of the
global spirit". Come dance with BoSu.
The
name says it all. We are a band born and raised in the backwoods of central
Pennsylvania, and our sound is a reflection of our love for all things natural
and real. We come from different walks of life but form a quartet of friendship
and musical experimentation. Our philosophy is that there are two types of
people in the world, those who love bluegrass and those who don't know it
yet. Settle in and enjoy the experiment......
The
Big Dirty delivers funk, soul, groove that captures the attention any audience
who enjoys soulful, inspiring, fresh, and creative instrumentation. This
band satisfies with a sonically innovative style that is difficult to pinpoint
but easy to get down to. While their roots lie within a countless number
of musical genres of the past century, The Big Dirty has forged a sound that
is truly unlike anything else. With each member utilizing a wide variety
of effects and styles, and creative collaborations on the songwriting process,
TBD continues to forge a signature sound that is making heads turn and bodies
move.
Dakini
is a five-piece original band from Hegins, PA. They create a flowing musical
experience that is truly unlike anything else. With influences from all genres
of music, Dakini is pure rock ’n’ roll with a driving energy that can satisfy
any and all who come to experience a show. Together for eight years with
three full-length studio albums, one live album & thousands of bootleg
recordings, Dakini has established themselves as one of Pennsylvania’s most
original, exciting, diverse, ever-changing improvisational bands.
Herbie,
known for its magical blend of high-energy rock, uptown funk, infectious
jams, and eclectic jazz, formed in September of 2000. "herbie is perhaps
the best example in the mid-state area of a band that demands from audiences
and critics alike a new vocabulary to describe an utterly idiosyncratic genre
that would include, well, just them." – Fly Magazine
Displaced
peoples are “persons or groups of persons who have been forced to flee or
to leave their homes to avoid conflict or disaster, but still remain in their
country ”. When a band sets out to shed stylistic trappings and clichés,
they are left without a genre. This band is what music sounds like when musicians
are left to their own devices. No pop songs here. Fusion, instrumental, original.
At
present, Chester River Runoff can hang with the best of the bluegrass scene,
with big harmonies and tight instrumental work. At the same time, they preserve
in their live shows the warm spirit and humor of friends who got together
simply to hang out and learn an instrument. They have an impressive repertoire
of original songs, which strike audiences with their honesty and their way
of tackling subjects not usually attempted by bluegrass songwriters and takes
on the classic themes with a fresh perspective and new imagery.
As
a trio, UZO made its mark under the moniker “Uncle Otter” for the first ten
years of their existence. Original band members, Brendan Patti (Bass), Tom
Patti (Guitar) and Adam Nicodemus (Drums), added Mike Pappas (keyboards)
as a permanent fixture to the lineup in 2008 prompting the name change. Uncle
Otter is well known for their explosive high-energy live shows. Leaving audiences
floored by their performance and craving for more. Combining Funk, Jazz and
Heavy Fusion influences, their instrumental mind-bending compositions take
you on a musical rollercoaster that leave you asking your psychiatrist for
more Prozac.
In
the Fall of 2007, a new band emerged from Pennsylvania 's Lehigh Valley
and they were crafting a unique sound that soon-to-be fans would describe
as "refreshing" and "like nothing else.” Fellswoop
pulls their influences from contemporary artists and mixes it with the traditional
sounds that once echoed down through the valley from the surrounding mountains.
25-year old multi-instrumentalist Chris Murphy, fronts the band with a prominent
acoustic guitar style and heartfelt vocals; often drifting from the usual
bluegrass formula, into a less-predictable, improvisational style; utilizing
foot pedals and acoustic effects. Chris’s sound is accompanied by JP on the
five string banjo, with whom he started the band. JP’s past experience spans
a plethora of regional and touring bands, as well as 20+ years of experience
as a drummer with both formal and on-the-job training. Chris and JP quickly
realized the potential that lie ahead after their first gig in Philadelphia
. The crowd was enthusiastic, and nothing less than adamant in their request
for “one more song.
The
Backroad was founded in the heartland of South Central Pennsylvania. Ben
Smith, Brian Bowman, Matt Gochenauer, and Kyle Morgan combined their diverse
musicianship and talent to create the unique back-porch-of-Mars feel. With
image painting lyrics, these artists strive to express their limited understanding
of love and life. If you like experimental folk, then take a moment enter
the world of The Backroad.Genuine, foot stompin', smokin', no-holds-barred Delta blues. Dunn's gritty voice sings of love, lust, lousy jobs and worse luck...carrying the blues forward and the river keeps flowing just the same.
A lonestar gambler, waiting for the day buried within each of us.
"Amanda Penecale uses her knowledge of self in her lyrics, emotional expression in her voice, and rhythm, timing, and complementary harmonics in her music. She has a unique quality to her voice with out trying to sound quirky or experimental. This pianist turned guitarist has an artistic soul that acknowledges the greats of the past with out falling too deeply in their shadows. Music is about connecting with your own voice, sound, and style—in this she succeeds." David W. Wannop (Journalist and Promoter)
Mike’s roots are in the Wyoming Valley of Northeastern Pennsylvania, where his music reflects the folk, rock, blues, blue grass and reggae base in which he was nurtured.
Combining a fiery stage prescence, sweet as honey vocals, and a caveman attitide, Erik from Baltimore has a sound all his own. Though rooted in folk and blues, this caveman is not afraid to step out on his own and let the world feel his heart song.
Passionate and powerful Will Bowers reflects a true modern Rock'n Roll sound to compliment his amazing improvisational guitar skills.
