Purveyors of a genre and a way of life, Max Creek celebrates their 40th. They Made It Through the Seventies, and they're still going. Max Creek is a living, breathing historical study in a hugely significant yet too-oft overlooked American subculture: the jam band.
EKOOSTIK HOOKAH - COLUMBUS, OHIO
One of the most original and energetic acts around, ekoostik hookah is the nucleus of a family drawn to its lucid, improvisational treatment of psychedelic rock 'n' roll, blues, funk, jazz and bluegrass layered with rich harmonies. Born in 1991 in a smoky basement bar, the band has been continually evolving, cultivating a sound that has perked the ears of contemporaries and attracted fans who travel miles to hear them play.

MIKE DILLON - FRIDAY ARTIST-AT-LARGE
Les Claypool's Frog Brigade. Garage A Trois. Critters Buggin. Malachy Papers. Karl Denson's Tiny Universe. The Hairy Apes BMX. The one element in common with all these bands is a man named Mike Dillon. His skill on percussion instruments of many stripes has caught the attention of groups far and wide keeping Mike busy on stages and in studios for many years. To watch Mike D play is quite a thing. His entire body gets involved with the instruments and he rarely stops moving. His arms a blur and his head shaking nearly loose from his frame, Mike seems possessed with a desire to always find something new, something deliciously rhythmic in any piece. And low and behold he usually finds it.
ULTRAVIOLET HIPPOPOTAMUS - GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN
Ultraviolet Hippopotamus is an explosive five-piece progressive improvisational band that mixes tight, funky jams with new dance beats, heartfelt lyrics, compelling composition, eccentric effects and a vibrant light show for an incredible, one-of-a-kind musical experience. Known for its on-stage musical alchemy – cultivated from years of relentless touring – the band performs an eclectic selection of technically demanding compositions and improvised material along with unconventional and fun covers.
JUGGLING SUNS PROJECT - POINT PLEASANT, NEW JERSEY
Referred to as one of the Jam Scene's "Best Kept Secrets" by Relix magazine, Juggling Suns have been abducting fans from New Jersey to Japan since 1997. Their roots lie in the diverse musical styles of old school psychedelia, jazz, bluegrass, funk, trance, dance and pure rock n roll, and those roots have fueled their legendary on-stage improvisation... get abducted.
YOJIMBO - NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA
This trio is trip-hopping down the Boom Boom Trail of Righteousness, won't you come along? Composed of twisted keys and Moog bass, wild drumS and percussion, and a trombone beast with wicked dance moves. Their style is a bodacious blend of funk, hip-hop, rock and improvised experimentation that gives you the urge to shake your body and scream-just like Carly! The music is wild, versatile and a little something else that you just gotta see to believe.

Birthed in Colombia and bred in the San Francisco Bay Area, Antioquia makes music that inspires raucous dancing and deep listening. With influences ranging from Mahavishnu Orchestra to Primus, Antioquia’s primary mission is to unite humans in the healing act of dance through a genre that they have dubbed, "Afro-Colombian Psychedelic Lovefunk." Their earnest let-it-all-hang-out stage presence encourages the same from the audience, creating a feedback loop that builds momentum as standers-by are sucked into the dance floor.

THE PRIMATE FIASCO - NORTHAMPTON, MASSACHUSETTS
Primate Fiasco uses the instrumentation of a New Orleans street band but plays music that you wouldn't expect. They can keep a dance party pumpin' on a sidewalk or from a stage. High energy arrangements and improvisation mix with fascinating lyrics and curveball cover decisions. From their Grammy nominated kids album to their cult following of Hippies and Hipsters to their gray haired jazz lovers, the Fiasco scene is open to all demographics. Whether you see them on stage or parading through a festival campground, you'll be smiling and moving your feet.
NICK GIANNI'S EVOLUTION - NEW YORK, NEW YORK
Evolution is a band of seasoned professional musicians driven by the vision of saxophonist Nick Gianni. The band formed out of downtown NYC's vibrant music scene with musicians who are not only versed in Jazz but also World Beat, Dub, Punk and Electronica.
WAHOO SKIFFLE CRAZIES - STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK
Balancing relevancy with absurdity, Wahoo Skiffle Crazies offer post-modern, time-traveling, Gonzo-Folk traditional jug band tunes, ragtime, protest songs, blues and originals, influenced by the 60s folk revival and Depression Era Americana.
AUDIO INFLUX - ROCHESTER, NEW YORK
Jazz infused funk wrapped in soul only begins to describe this groove band. Throttled by drum & bass feel, colored with digital samples and keyboard soundscapes, syncopated with sinewy guitar lines and soulful, rich vocals, AudioInflux provides an endlessly danceable, timeless groove for audiences far and wide.

The Headlocks are an Americana Rock & Roll band who entertain audiences wherever they go. With vocals and harmonica reverberating from the same chamber as some of the best classic rock has to offer and simple structures of their catchy songs allowing the band to pulsate in wave after wave of sonic joy. Their songs carry themes of the working class and living in America in the wake of a cultural revolution that has been eaten by its exploitation.

JATOBA - BRATTLEBORO, VERMONT
Vermont-based acoustic trio with a distinctly unique sound. Their music consists of quick, high-energy bluegrass tempos, thumping rockabilly bass lines, and soaring three-part vocal harmonies, as well as punchy rhythmic improvisation, effects-driven guitar solos, beat-boxing, and even the occasional sitar interlude. The band delivers a live show which encompasses all of these aspects, as well as improvisatory jams, seamless flow, and effective crowd interaction. A rebellious response to typical jam grass, Jatoba has something that listeners of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy.

Truly a musical revolution for this generation, Mystery Fyre brings psychedelic classic-rock back to the music scene. Having influences from the late 60s era of revolutionary music has helped Mystery Fyre create a sound both familiar and foreign.

They play electric rock music that owes to psychedelic, indie, and classic rock and pop. "Psychedelic Indie Rock" might sum it up as well as three words can. Their lyrics tend to be inspired by the magic and strangeness of things in their lives. A song about loving someone becomes an invitation to share a burial plot. A trip to the basement of the natural science museum down the street becomes a dreamy ode to the art of taxidermy. A desire to travel becomes a sea-shanty about love and longing.

BACKWOODS EXPERIMENT - WILLIAMSPORT, PENNSYLVANIA
The name says it all. They are a band born and raised in the backwoods of central Pennsylvania, and their sound is a reflection of their love for all things natural and real. They come from different walks of life but form a quartet of friendship and musical experimentation. Their philosophy is that there are two types of people in the world: those who love bluegrass and those who don't know it yet. Settle in and enjoy the experiment.

Genuine, foot stompin', smokin', no-holds-barred Delta blues. His gritty voice sings of love, lust, lousy jobs and worse luck. carrying the blues forward - the river keeps flowing just the same.

Never is there a separation between her soul and the musical expression she emits. This is manifested genuinely through her voice as she reaches out to all other souls who listen. Concerning genre, there is nothing typical. You may hear a heart-felt blues, folk, or jazzy style tune - or you may hear some highly energized bluegrass or rock n' roll. No matter what you hear, every trace comes from the heart and soul, a deep appreciation for all music, and the desire to share inspiration.

Combining a fiery stage presence, sweet as honey vocals, and a caveman attitude, Erik has a sound all his own. Though rooted in folk and blues, this caveman is not afraid to step out on his own and let the world feel his heart song.
